KCHS

Founded in 1977, the Kenton County Historical Society now has over 300 members. The Society has:

  • Sponsored tours of historical sites
  • Co-sponsored the annual Northern KY History Day at NKU
  • Produced numerous award-winning publications, collection of papers, documents and photographs archived at the Kenton County Public Library.
  • Co-sponsors monthly lecture series at Baker-Hunt Foundation.
  • Held events in historic buildings

KCHS General News

The Society will make the John Burns' publication 'A General History of Covington' available on disk. Approximately 300 pages have been completed so far. The Society is searching for volunteers to complete this project. The board has also arranged to produce a comprehensive book on the history of Covington to be completed in time for the city’s bicentennial celebration in 2015.

Write About It!

Learn more about the Write About It! project. Local history articles by area high school students. This History writing project is offering Kenton County High School students the opportunity to become interns with the Kenton County Historical Society and have their articles on Kenton County history published in area publications. Contact us for additional information.

Mission

The mission of the Kenton County Historical Society is to promote preservation, research, and dissemination of Kenton County history and genealogy, especially as it relates to the larger community.
