Owner of Elmwood Hall and founder of the Edna E. Thomas Candy Company.
Edna Vogelsang was born In Pomeroy, Ohio in 1882. In 1908, she married
Albert Thomas.
In 1920, the couple purchased Elmwood Hall in Ludlow. In this historic
building, Edna E. Thomas established her candy business. The candy was
made in Ludlow and sold in Cincinnati. Thomas had retail establishments
at the Havlin Hotel, the John Shillito Company and the Dixie Terminal,
all in Cincinnati.
Edna E. Thomas retired from the candy business in 1960 and moved to
Fort Mitchell. She died on December 9, 1974. Her husband, Albert Thomas,
died in 1938. She was survived by a son Donald. Services were held at
Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home with burial at Highland Cemetery, Fort
Mitchell.
