A Ludlow native who was crowned Miss United States of America in 1931
at the age of 18. Dorothy Lamour was a runner-up. Later in 1931, Anne
Lee Patterson was runner-up in the Miss Universe Contest.
When Miss Patterson returned to Ludlow in June 1932, the city sponsored
a large parade in her honor. Hundreds marched and several bands participated.
A community-wide reception followed at the city building. Patterson
later worked in New York City in the Ziegfield Follies and in the musical
"Showboat."
Patterson was the daughter of John and Ann Patterson of 29 Kenner Street.
Ann Lee was educated at St. James Elementary School in Ludlow and LaSalette
Academy in Covington.
In 1936 she married Joseph Bandler. The couple had two sons, Robert
and Joseph. The family resided in Bel-Air, California.
