Klosterman, Harold "Pete"

Long-time Ludlow resident and mayor. He served for a decade on city council. Klosterman was born on January 29, 1910 in Covington. He married Margaret Terry in 1929 at St. James Church in Ludlow.

In 1977, Klosterman was elected mayor when he defeated sitting mayor Buddy L. Waite. Klosterman served two terms (1978-1985). During his tenure as mayor, a number of accomplishments were achieved including: the construction of a new bridge on West Oak Street and the construction of Highpoint Senior Citizens Building. When Klosterman became the mayor, the city faced a large deficit. By 1985, a surplus of $100,000.00 had been achieved.

Klosterman ran for re-election as mayor in 1985 against Ronald Lefty Pegg and Fred Brooks. He lost by a narrow margin: Pegg 609, Klosterman 547 and Brooks 205.

In 1974, Klosterman retired from the Foy Johnson Paint Store of Cincinnati. He was vice president of the Home Federal savings and Loan Association of Ludlow, a former president of the Ludlow Bromley Swim Club, a member of the Kenton County Democratic Club, a member of the Northern Kentucky Air Quality Board and a charter member of the Ludlow Auxiliary Police. Klosterman was also a member of the Merger committee of Sts. Boniface and James Church.

Harold "Pete" Klosterman died on February 11, 1989 at the age of 79. He was survived by his wife, Margaret Terry Klosterman, and one son, Harold Klosterman Jr. Mass of Christian burial was held at Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow with burial at St. Mary Cemetery in Fort Mitchell.
