Charles E. Doerr was born on July 28, 1883 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Charles
Doerr and Emma Alkemeyer Doerr. Doerr resided at 48 Kenner Street in
Ludlow.
He entered the United States Army on September 1, 1908. Doerr served
in the medical Corp in the Philippines. He reached the rank of Lieutenant
Colonel before his death. Doerr died on October 3, 1918 of influenza
at Camp Humphreys, Virginia.
He was survived by his wife, Bessie Allison Doerr, and three children
(the last child was born on the same date as his death). Funeral services
were held at the home of John Allison, 184 Elm Street. John Allison
was Doerr's father-in-law. Burial was at Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell.
Bessie Allison Doerr was the first woman elected to the Ludlow Board
of Education. She received the most votes on the 1924 ticket.
