Interlibrary Loan - How to borrow a book from another Library

Interlibrary Loan is a service through which KCPL obtains materials from other libraries for use by KCPL patrons. To be eligible for this service you must be a Kenton County resident and library cardholder with full borrowing privileges. To avoid delays, always check KCPL's Online Catalog to see if we own before submitting I.L.L. requests.

It can take one to eight weeks to receive the requested item.

Do you charge a fee for ILL?
KCPL does not charge a fee for this service.  If, however, the lending library charges, we will notify the patron before placing the request.

How long can I keep interlibrary loans?
The lending library determines the length of checkout time, usually, anywhere from two to six weeks.

Can items be renewed?
If you need additional time to use the materials, please contact the I.L.L. department five days prior to due date.  The loaning library grants permission for renewals, not KCPL.

What are my responsibilities for overdue fees or a lost or damaged item?
Patrons, not KCPL, responsible for fines & materials lost or damaged.

If you have additional questions please call Chad Lewis, ILL Coordinator at 859-962-4081.
